GVW8366B - A High-Precision, Long-Range Detection, Low-Power ToF Image Sensor that Achieves HVGA Resolution


The GVW8366B is a ToF image sensor chip that can achieve HVGA (480*360) resolution through a backside illumination process to provide accurate depth information for smart devices. It features a patented pixel architecture and an innovative working mode that combines the advantages of traditional CW-TOF and Pulse-TOF to achieve better ambient light suppression and lower power consumption.  The proprietary programmable capability of receiver pulse number enables single frame image with HDR(High Dynamic Range).  The firmware architecture of pseudo-random pulse train can greatly reduce the influence of multi-device interference.

Operating principle of Goodix’s ToF ranging solution: The GD8573B driver chip controls a laser to emit a high-frequency modulation signal, which is reflected to the GVW8366B receiving sensor after encountering a target object. The distance information can be calculated based on the phase difference between the transmitted signal and the returned signal. Our ToF ranging solution enables high-security level facial recognition, high-accuracy human and object identification, high-precision navigation and obstacle avoidance, dimensional measurement, 3D scene reconstruction, etc. It can be widely used in smart devices such as smart phones, tablets, personal computers, and smart glasses, in smart machines such as autonomous mobile robots, drones, and unmanned delivery trucks, in smart home appliances such as smart door locks, TV sets, and projectors, as well as in other scenarios that require 3D information and distance measurement.
